Endless summer!? I’ve never been a huge fan of fall/winter foods – I love the light, fresh feel of spring and summer cooking. Luckily the trendy classic, an Aperol Orange Spritz is perfect for anytime of year. It has a light and refreshing flavor; its orange citrusy notes work perfect for the holidays and for summer. Plus, its “cleaner” ingredients make it a delicious healthy cocktail choice.
How to Make an Aperol Spritz
An Aperol Orange Spritz is quite possibly one of the easiest cocktails I’ve made to this day. Grab some ice, a chilled bottle of Prosecco, a bottle of Aperol liquer, sparkling water, and some orange slices. Add four of the ice cubes to a class, pour in 1 oz of the Prosecco, 1 ounce of the Aperol Liquer, and 2 ounces of sparkle water. Slice the oranges into round circles or half a circle and then add a couple in the glass for a garnish!
Not a big drinker or want a kid-friendly version to serve alongside yours? Try a non alcoholic aperol spritz! It’s so easy, just substitute a non-alcoholic aperitif in the below recipe for the aperol liquer!
What Prosecco is Gluten Free / is Prosecco High in Sugar?
Prefer your cocktails light on the sugary side? According to NoughtyAF.com, Prosecco is known to be one of the less calorific drinks available; a typical sized glass containing around 1.5g of sugar (80 calories). Additionally, almost all (about 99%) Prosecco is gluten-free.
There may be a very rare occasion where cross-contact could occur with barrels sealed with gluten-containing paste (the same applies for wine). If worried, make sure to contact the manufacturer. I’m highly sensitive myself and I have not yet had an issue…
What to Serve with Your Aperol Spritz
An Aperol Orange is a refreshing drink, thought to have originated in Venice. It’s origin and trendiness makes it an amazing pairing for Italian food – especially aside a charcuterie board / meat and cheese platter!
It’s light and fizzy; and has a brilliant orange flavor; also making is a preferred healthier cocktail for serving alongside of brunch. Excellent with potatoes – try pairing with Sweet Potato Hash and Egg Breakfast Cups or Hash Brown Sandwiches.
