Servings: 4 margaritas

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (about 5-6 oz) fresh blackberries
  • ½ cup raw honey (½ cup organic sugar or agave for a vegan option)
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 cup (8 ounces) silver tequila
  • 4 ounces freshly squeezed lime juice this is my favorite lime squeezer for making this quick and easy
  • 4 ounces orange liquor (I used Grand Marnier®)
  • Ice
  • 1 ounce package of basil leaves
  • 5 tablespoons sea salt and additional limes and blackberries (for serving)

Instructions

  • Make blackberry simple syrup. Bring water to a boil. Mix in honey. Allow to cool just until warm. Add blackberries and puree until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh strainer, then store the syrup in the fridge until cool.
  • In a large pitcher, combine syrup, tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, and a couple cubes of ice. Muddle with basil leaves.
  • Rim four margarita glasses by running a lime wedge over the edge and dipping the edges in sea salt. Pour drinks as desired though a strainer (optional to remove basil leaves) and into each glass, garnishing each with a slice of lime and a few blackberries.
