Servings: 8 servings
- 8 oz cream cheese softened
- ½ teaspoon each: dried oregano basil, parsley (or 1½ teaspoon Italian seasoning)
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- ¼ cup parmesan cheese finely grated
- 1¾ cups whole milk low-moisture shredded mozzarella cheese
- Pepperoni slices to taste
- Optional toppings: sliced black olives fresh parsley, 1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional topping to add heat)
- Optional dippers: crostinis* vegetables, or chips
Preheat oven to 350°.
Lightly whip/beat cream cheese and herbs, just until combined.
Spread on the bottom of a 9-inch pie plate, 9x9 square pan, or a 9-9.5” ceramic tart pan/baking dish.
Spread pizza sauce on top. In a small bowl, mix cheese. Sprinkle about ¾ over top and set the rest aside. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove from oven.
Sprinkle with remaining cheese and add pepperoni. Bake 10 additional minutes.
Remove from oven. Add optional toppings if desired.
Serve with crostinis, vegetables, or chips.
*If you’d like to make your own crostinis (I make mine because I’m gluten free and need a gluten free loaf), slice a baguette into thin round slices, about 1/3” thick and arrange on a single layer on a baking sheet. Drizzle/brush with olive oil and bake for about ten minutes, flipping halfway through.
*You are welcome to add cheddar cheese; however, this recipe is baked in increments and only uses white cheese for a warm white appearance. With tweaks it will still taste great but may have a yellow appearance when serving.
