Golden Milk - Miraculous Anti-Inflammation Drink

Need a quick fix for inflammation? Golden Milk, originating from Ayurvedic medicine, is known for its wellness properties and continues to be one of the strongest anti-inflammatory drinks. Great for aches and pains, anxiety and depression, and other ailments due to inflammation in the body, this drink is calming, warm, and oh-so-creamy!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups unsweetened organic coconut (or almond) milk brand without carrageenan
  • 1 tablespoon peeled grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon peeled grated fresh turmeric
  • 4 black peppercorns
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons raw local honey

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, heat coconut milk, ginger, turmeric, and peppercorns.
  • Bring mixture to a simmer. Simmer covered for 10 minutes.
  • Add cinnamon and honey. Strain between two cups.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

*If the taste isn’t creamy enough for you, or you aren’t a huge ginger or turmeric fan, I did find that making this recipe with pre-sweetened coconut milk helped disguise their flavor much better. However, if using sweetened, please be extra careful to select an organic coconut milk brand without harsh preservatives.
*I’ve read that almond milk can also be used to make Golden Milk, however, due to my dietary restrictions, I am unable to confirm. If you use it yourself, please let me know how it tastes!
*Wear gloves when handling fresh turmeric—it easily stains the skin.
*Of all the things Golden Milk is rumored to help with, I personally have found it to be the most helpful for any mood-related issues.
