If you’ve ever made a pizza dip that tasted amazing but didn’t look so amazing once it came out of the oven, you’re not alone. I tested a lot of pizza dip recipes while working on this one, and while most were delicious, nearly all of them baked up yellow and greasy. This Easy Pizza Dip was designed to do both: deliver classic, loaded pepperoni pizza flavor and bake up hot, creamy, and party-worthy with an appetizing look.

By layering the ingredients, baking in stages, and sticking to the right cheeses, this version stays melty and scoopable without completely discoloring. It’s simple, easy, and perfect for serving at a gathering. Bonus: it’s a 6-ingredient base recipe that’s endlessly customizable.
Ingredients
This pizza dip keeps things simple; every ingredient plays a role in flavor and final appearance.’

Pizza Sauce (Not Marinara)
Use pizza sauce, not marinara or spaghetti sauce. Pizza sauce is thicker, which helps prevent the dip from becoming watery and keeps the layers distinct.
Cream Cheese
Cream cheese creates a rich, creamy base. Make sure it’s fully softened so it blends smoothly with the herbs and spreads easily.
Freshly Grated Cheese
Freshly grated mozzarella and parmesan melt more smoothly and evenly than pre-shredded cheese.
*You can use pre-shredded if desired, but freshly grated gives the best texture and appearance.
*Cheddar cheese can be added, but this recipe uses white cheeses to maintain a warm, clean appearance when serving.
Pepperoni
Classic pepperoni keeps this dip familiar and crowd-pleasing.
Pizza Dip Toppings
This pizza dip is a great base for mixing things up:
- Pepperoni (classic and always popular)
- Black olives
- Cooked sausage or crumbled bacon
- Fresh parsley or basil
- Red pepper flakes if heat is desired

How to Make Pizza Dip
Preheat oven to 350°F and then lightly whip the softened cream cheese with oregano, basil, and parsley.
Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly in a dish. Spread pizza sauce over the cream cheese layer. Mix the mozzarella and parmesan and sprinkle about ¾ of the cheese on top and bake for 15 minutes.
Remove from oven, add remaining cheese and pepperoni, and return to oven for 10 more minutes. Remove from oven and add any optional toppings. Serve hot with crostinis, vegetables, chips, or any other desired dippers!

Tips & Tricks for the Best Pizza Dip
Make-Ahead Friendly
You can assemble this pizza dip several days ahead of time and refrigerate it (unbaked). When ready to serve, bake as directed and add a few extra minutes if needed.
Soften the Cream Cheese
Cold cream cheese won’t blend smoothly and can lead to uneven layers. Let your block of cream cheese sit at room temperature or microwave briefly (unwrapped) until soft.
Storage & Leftovers
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
