Watermelon Feta Skewers are one of my favorite summer appetizers because they’re affordable, healthy, and are well-loved. Made with just a handful of fresh ingredients, they’re an simple way to feed a crowd without spending a ton. The combination of fresh watermelon, creamy feta cheese, basil or mint, and balsamic glaze creates a refreshing appetizer that’s perfect for cookouts, brunches, baby showers, backyard gatherings, and summer entertaining.

How to Make Watermelon Feta Skewers

I love that this recipe looks impressive without requiring much effort. You’ll simply cut watermelon and feta into bite-sized cubes, thread them onto skewers with fresh herbs, cut feta cheese into cubes and thread them, then finish everything with olive oil and/or balsamic glaze (if desired), sea salt, and pepper.

Tips & Tricks

  • Thread the feta slowly and gently onto the skewers to help prevent it from crumbling.
  • Use slightly or fully chilled watermelon for the best flavor.
  • Fresh mint creates a bright, refreshing flavor, while basil adds an herbal touch.
  • For extra crunch, add cucumber between the watermelon and feta cubes.
  • Affordability tip: place a bowl of extra watermelon cubes next to the platter. Since feta is usually the most expensive ingredient, guests (especially kids) who simply want watermelon can grab some from the bowl instead of taking apart the skewers.

An Affordable Summer Appetizer

One of the best things about watermelon feta skewers is how affordable they are to make. A single watermelon, one package of feta cheese, fresh herbs, and a package of skewers can easily serve a crowd for around $10-15 depending on where you shop.

They’re also naturally gluten free, made with fresh ingredients, and light enough for hot summer days when heavier appetizers don’t sound appealing.
