A DIY mimosa bar is one of the easiest ways to make brunch feel special without a ton of work. Whether you’re hosting a bridal shower, Mother’s Day brunch, birthday party, or slow weekend get together, a mimosa station creates a fun, relaxed atmosphere that guests love.

The best part? It’s super easy to set-up; just chill the champagne, slice the fruit, set out the juices, and let everyone customize their own bubbly brunch cocktail. I also included my free printable mimosa bar sign below to help you create a beautiful setup.

Mimosa Bar Supplies & Props (Order Ahead of Time)

Reference my photos for inspiration, but below are the main mimosa bar supplies you’ll want to grab ahead of time. I recommend choosing a color scheme first, so everything feels cohesive (I went with rose gold).

You don’t need to spend a fortune to create a gorgeous mimosa station either. I mixed a few Amazon finds with pieces I already had at home and spent about $100 total including fruit, juice, and sparkling wine.

  • A “bubbly bar” banner (I went for a rose gold theme).
  • Champagne glasses. I had a few already then ordered iridescent champagne flutes as well.
  • A picture frame for your mimosa bar sign. I ordered this one, but you can also find nice ones at Dollar Tree to cut costs.
  • Juice bottles. I saw so many cute juice carafes, but I’m not made of money haha! I got empty soda bottles at my local craft store for cheap.
  • Fruit dishes. I used glass bowls I had at home, but these can also be grabbed at the craft store or Dollar Tree at a low cost.
  • Water glasses and paper straws.
  • Ice buckets or champagne buckets.

Dollar Tree and craft stores are great places to find affordable serving pieces and decor if you’re trying to keep costs low.

Mimosa Glasses

In order to keep costs low, I placed the fruit next to each juice it represented (so didn’t need to label the juices). I ordered one banner (as linked above).

And I made the sign with a rose gold gradient so it matched the rest of the décor without needing to buy an expensive foil sign. It actually looked great, coming right out of my cheap home printer.

If you want to grab one for yourself, you’re welcome to use my 8×10 sign – just click here to download. Print on your regular printer using the full-page option (usual 8½ by 11 document), then trim off the light grey border, and stick in an 8×10 frame!

How Much Champagne & Sparkling Wine for a Mimosa Bar

One of the most common questions when hosting a diy mimosa bar is how much champagne or sparkling wine you actually need.

For a standard mimosa recipe, plan on using about 2 ounces of juice and 4 ounces of sparkling wine. A standard 750 ml bottle usually makes about 6 to 8 mimosas depending on how generous your pours are.

As a rough estimate:

• Light brunch crowd: 1 bottle for every 3 guests
• Average party: 1 bottle for every 2 guests
• Larger celebrations: closer to 1 bottle per person

Make sure to chill the champagne, prosecco, or sparkling wine overnight before serving. Mimosas taste significantly better cold (warm sparkling wine loses bubbles quickly).

I also recommend leaving backup bottles in the refrigerator and only bringing out a few at a time, so everything stays crisp and bubbly throughout the party.

Champagne

What Type of Sparkling Wine Is Best for Mimosas?

You definitely do not need expensive champagne for a mimosa bar. Since juice is mixed in, affordable sparkling wines work beautifully.

Some great options include brut champagne, prosecco, cava, sparkling rosé, and extra brut sparkling wine.

*If you want a lower sugar option, look for brut nature or extra brut labels. I personally grabbed a basic brut from Walmart and it worked perfectly.

Best Mimosa Bar Juices & Fruits (Get the Day Before)

To make things quick and easy, I grabbed six of my favorite fruits and juice to go with them! Placing the fresh fruit next to its equivalent juice helps you skip having to label each juice. See below for my recommendations (in the order of their popularity):

 Juices Used
  • Blueberry Mimosa – 100% blueberry juice and 1 pt fresh blueberries
  • Grapefruit Mimosa – 100% grapefruit juice and 2 grapefruits, sectioned
  • Watermelon Mimosa – watermelon juice and a couple cups of watermelon, diced
  • Mango Mimosa – mango juice and 2 mangoes, sliced
  • Pineapple Mimosa – pineapple juice and 1 pineapple, diced
  • Pomegranate Mimosa – pomegranate juice and 1 the seeds of 1 pomegranate
  • Other popular options to consider: peach or strawberry puree, raspberry, blackberry, guava, classic orange, and more!
  • Other fun fruits & garnishes to consider: strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, pineapple, peach slices, mint leaves, rosemary sprigs, and edible flowers.

*Tip: Using 100% juice instead of juice cocktails helps keep the flavors fresher and less sugary.
*Tip: Frozen fruit also works really well because it helps keep drinks cold without watering them down.

Non-Alcoholic and Family Friendly Mimosa Bar Options

A diy mimosa bar can easily be made family friendly! Simply include a few non-alcoholic bubbly options so everyone can join in on the fun. This is especially fun for baby showers, Easter brunch, Mother’s Day, and family gatherings.

Sparkling water, sparkling cider, lemon-lime soda, and non-alcoholic sparkling wine all work great for a kid-friendly mimosa station. Some fun combinations include:

• Orange juice + sparkling water
• Pineapple juice + lemon-lime soda
• Strawberry puree + sparkling cider
• Mango juice + flavored sparkling water

How to Set Up a Mimosa Bar

Make your DIY Mimosa Bar in advance with limited stress! Almost all of the prep-work can be done prior to guest arrival.

Set-up in advance (day before or morning of):

  1. Print and frame your mimosa bar sign.
  2. Chill the champagne bottles and any juices needed.
  3. Prep the bar by setting out the table, hanging the banner, placing the sign, setting out the empty cups and straws, and setting out bowls for fruit.
  4. Cut up all the fruit and store in the fridge.

Set-up five minutes before beginning (day before or morning of):

  1. Add prepped fruit to the bowls
  2. Fill juice bottles with juice and set them out
  3. Set out champagne bottles (leave a couple chilling in the refrigerator until ready so they don’t get warm).

Tip: If you’re hosting outdoors or in warm weather, I highly recommend using an ice bucket or beverage tub to keep everything cold throughout the party.

Tips for Hosting the Perfect Mimosa Bar

For the best mimosa bar, keep everything very cold; especially the sparkling wine and juice. I also highly recommend prepping your fruit the night before, so setup is less work the next day.

If you want your mimosa station to feel a little more elevated, try using cake stands, trays, or risers to create different heights across the table. And don’t forget to include a few non-alcoholic bubbly options so everyone can join in.

Using a mix of classic and unique juice flavors also makes the mimosa bar feel more memorable.
